“Leading Scholars” Program

Aimed at the frontiers of the world science & technology, the main economic battlefield, major national needs, and people’s life and health, it is focused on introducing a group of world-class scholars or national-level talents based on the needs of disciplinary development.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Complying with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, possession of good scientific ethics, and conscious practicing of the spirit of scientists in the new era.

2. In general, holding a doctoral degree.

3. Conducting original research and key technology research, achievement of high-level academic results and making outstanding contributions by achievements, with the ability or potential for leading and pioneering.

4. Applicants are typically under the age of 55, but the age limit may be appropriately relaxed for applicants in disciplines such as humanities and social sciences.

Respective Benefits or Remuneration

1. Appointed as a Chair Professor (Long-term) or granted a Tenured Position; awarded the qualification of Doctoral Supervisor.

2. HIT will, in principle, provide the selected candidates with salary and benefits packages corresponding to their appointed positions, a new fully-furnished apartment, or a settlement allowance and monetary housing subsidy of equivalent value.

3. HIT will, in principle, provide the selected candidates with support in the form of a research start-up grant: for the Chair Professor (Long-term) / Tenured Position (Position I), it will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. For the Tenured Position (Position II), it will range from 2 million yuan to 6 million yuan. For the Tenured Position (Position III), it will range from 1 million yuan to 4 million yuan.

4. HIT will actively assist the selected candidates in areas such as housing, children’s school enrollment, and employment of spouses. The second-level institutions will, in accordance with actual development needs, create favorable working conditions for the selected candidates in terms of research premises, research conditions, and post-graduate students’ enrollment quotas.

“Shenzhou Scholar” Program

It is aimed at gathering a group of strategic scientific and technological talents, leading scientific and technological talents, young scientific and technological talents, and innovative teams from both domestic and overseas, in order to enhance the innovation ability and international competitiveness of HIT’s faculty.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Complying with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, possession of good scientific ethics, and conscious practicing the spirit of scientists in the new era.

2. Holding a doctoral degree, with an outstanding academic and research record.

“Shenzhou Scholar” program: For applicants who demonstrate strong potential for innovative development, have achieved outstanding research results, possess academic capabilities equivalent to national-level young talent and strong potential for becoming a leading expert in the field.

“Shenzhou Young Scholar” program: For applicants who have achieved high-level research results recognized by peers and have the potential to grow into a national-level young talent in the field.

3. Applicants for “Shenzhou Scholar” program should be no older than 38 years of age, and applicants for “Shenzhou Young Scholar” program should generally be no more than 32 years. For exceptionally outstanding candidates, the requirements may be relaxed appropriately.

Respective Benefits or Remuneration

1. The selected candidates for “Shenzhou Scholar” program will be appointed as a senior professional and technical position and the selected candidates for “Shenzhou Young Scholar” program will be appointed as a deputy senior professional and technical position or above.

2. Salary and Benefits (including national and local): for the selected candidates of “Shenzhou Scholar” program: 800,000 yuan / year (pre-tax). For the selected candidates of “Shenzhou Young Scholar” program: 500,000 yuan / year (pre-tax).

3. Research Start-up grant (including national and local funds): Depending on the characteristics of research fields, the selected candidates of “Shenzhou Scholar” program will receive a research start-up grant ranging from 1 million yuan to 3 million yuan; and the selected candidates of “Shenzhou Young Scholar” program will receive a research start-up grant ranging from 500,000 yuan to 1.5 million yuan. The grant will be disbursed annually according to the work plan.

4. The selected candidates may also receive rewards for high-level achievements, research performance, etc., with no upper limit.

5. If the selected candidates meet HIT’s and the relevant disciplines’ basic requirements for applying for doctoral supervisor qualifications, a dual-supervisor model will be implemented. The qualification for doctoral supervisor will be subject to review and filing.

6. The career development path for selected candidates is generally the tenured position at HIT.

7. HIT will actively assist selected candidates in housing arrangements, children’s school enrollment, employment of spouses, etc. Second-level institutions will, in accordance with actual development needs, actively create favorable working conditions for selected candidates in terms of research premises, research conditions, and students’ enrollment quotas.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Postdoctoral researchers are an important part of the faculty at HIT. They take up positions such as associate researcher and assistant researcher.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicants should possess a strong academic background and significant potential for development. They should have made outstanding research achievements.

2. Applicants should be able to engage in postdoctoral research on a full-time basis.

3. Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree within the last three years.

4. The age of applicants for the position of associate researcher should be generally under 32, while the age of applicants for the position of assistant researcher should be under 35.

Selection and Recruitment Procedure

1. Associate Research Professor: HIT will arrange a unified selection procedure and recruit the best candidates.

2. Assistant Research Professor: Second-level institutions will select the best candidates. The admission approval and employment procedures can be processed at any time.

Respective Benefits or Remuneration

1. Associate Research Professor: The annual funding amount for the first term is 310,000–350,000 yuan per year, while the research start-up fund provided by HIT is 100,000 yuan.

2. Assistant Research Professor: The annual funding amount for the first term is 210,000–250,000 yuan per year.

Career Support

1. HIT provides a high-level development platform, actively recruiting overseas PhD holders to work at HIT and vigorously encouraging probationer researchers to conduct postdoctoral research under the supervision of top international research supervisors. It also strongly supports applications for various talent programs and funding.

2. HIT will pay public institutions’ insurance and housing provident funds for postdoctoral researchers, who will enjoy the same rights as the staff of HIT in terms of children’s daycare and school enrollment.

3. HIT has a well-defined career development path for postdoctoral researchers: after the first two years, they can be re-appointed upon passing the assessment. They can also apply for faculty positions during their time at HIT, and if they are appointed, employment management will be implemented according to the corresponding position.

“Chunyan” Talent Program

HIT has launched the “Chunyan” Talent Program for post-graduate students with excellent academic potential, both among its own students and those from other institutions. PhD students who have been enrolled for at least two years but no more than five years, and who are in principle no older than 30, can be selected. Successful candidates can be appointed to the Associate Researcher position.

Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program

Relying on the “Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program” organized annually by the National Postdoctoral Management Committee, we recruit outstanding doctoral graduates from domestic universities who are either fresh graduates or have recently graduated. Candidates selected through national review can be appointed to the position of associate researcher.

1. Detailed curriculum vitae: continuous education and work experience from undergraduate studies to the date of application, list of published papers and works, main teaching and research achievements, research projects undertaken, patents, awards, etc.

2. Future research plan: research work to be carried out in the future.
