Literary Ethics Criticism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: The 13th Annual Conference of the International Association for Literary Ethics Criticism
From December 7 to 8, 2024, the “Literary Ethics Criticism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: The 13th Annual Conference of the International Association for Literary Ethics Criticism” was successfully held at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). The conference was organized by International Association for Literary Ethics Criticism, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of HIT, Collaborative Innovation Center for Computational Social Sciences of HIT, and Regional and Country Studies Center of HIT. It was co-organized by Interdisciplinary Research Center for World Literature at Zhejiang University, School of English Language and Culture at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and the editorial team of Foreign Literature Studies. Dozens of international scholars from countries including the UK, Germany, Austria, South Korea, Malaysia, and Philippines, along with nearly 300 distinguished experts, academics, and young scholars from more than 130 universities across China, gathered in Harbin to celebrate this vibrant academic event.
Professor Liu Jian, Vice President of HIT, noted in his address that HIT has always been committed to the integrated development of technological innovation and humanistic spirit. As a hub for academic research and cultural exchange, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has built a vital bridge between technology and the humanities, enabling us to gain deeper insights into the cultural, ethical, and societal implications of rapid technological advancement. Meanwhile, School of International Studies has achieved remarkable success in literary studies as well as regional and country-specific research, earning widespread recognition for its groundbreaking contributions at the intersection of literature, ethics, technology, and society. This year’s conference aims to bring together global expertise to jointly explore the profound integration and innovative evolution of artificial intelligence with literary and ethical criticism — a collaboration that holds immense significance for advancing the seamless convergence of humanities and science and technology.
Harbin Institute of Technology – Kazakh National University – Eurasian National University International Law Symposium
“Harbin Institute of Technology – Kazakh National University – Eurasian National University International Law Symposium (Central Asia Edition),” jointly organized by Harbin Institute of Technology, Kazakh National University, and Eurasian National University, was successfully held at Harbin Institute of Technology on June 20, 2024.
“Harbin Institute of Technology – Kazakh National University International Law Symposium,” hosted by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, was held at Harbin Institute of Technology on December 6, 2023. Experts from both countries engaged in an in-depth exchange on academic issues related to international law, jointly exploring concrete pathways to promote strategic cooperation between the two universities. Vice President of HIT, Zhen Liang, attended the event and delivered an opening address.
In his speech, Zhen Liang emphasized that this seminar holds significant importance for fostering collaboration between the two universities in international law programs. He expressed hope that the event would serve as a catalyst to further deepen exchanges and strengthen joint efforts, ultimately supporting the mutual growth of both institutions in the field of legal studies.
During the meeting, the two parties signed a Letter of Intent on “Joint Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Degrees Program in International Law between Harbin Institute of Technology and Kazakh National University,” and agreed to promptly move forward with establishing “Harbin Institute of Technology – Kazakh National University International Law Research Center,” jointly creating a highlight in liberal arts and a model of cooperation unique to Harbin Institute of Technology, and continuously strengthening faculty-student exchanges and mutual visits.
It is understood that in June 2023, a delegation from HIT visited Kazakh National University, reaching a series of agreements and consensuses. The two institutions also signed a memorandum of cooperation, opening a new chapter of friendly cooperation between the two institutions.
