The First College English Teaching Department is devoted to educating top-notch talents and is responsible for teaching College English courses for non-English major undergraduates (undergraduates at the advanced level), students in the School of Future Technology and freshmen from School of Astronautics, School of Computer Science and Technology, etc. This department has a faculty of 25 members, including three professors, eight associate professors and fourteen lecturers. Among them, one is whom holds the title of Academic Leader in Teaching.
In recent years, the First College English Teaching Department has completed more than 20 teaching and research projects, most of which are national, ministerial, or provincial-level projects. Faculty members have published over 100 papers in various domestic and international journals including CSSCI journals. More than 20 textbooks have been compiled, several of which have been published by nationally-renowned academic presses. The Department has received over 10 teaching awards, including n a national first prize in the FLTRP “Teaching Star” Contest. One course has been recognized as national-level top-quality online course and a first-class undergraduate course by the Ministry of Education, along with another provincial-level first-class online course. The Department has also organized numerous English competitions.
